Bob, Those midtones are gorgeous. Splendid. And the composition surprises on the second glance. Well done. Matt

That is just a WOW shot! Did you make that in film with a 4x5 view camera? I suspect you might have. It's a stunner. Who said the Big Top is dead? (OK)

Chuck, thanks for looking and the very nice compliments. Actually, it was photographed using my D800e.

Bob, This image has stayed with me overnight; I went back again this morning and continue to marvel at what you accomplished particularly with the grays in the middle section. Teach me, oh master. Matt

Gee, that's a wonderful image Bob. The detail and the tonalities are so perfect. The composition's great too, and the subject matter intriguing (what is that thing, an ancient circus tent?) but the capture and treatment are just breathtaking. This one's for framing, for sure.

Thank you very much, Minnie. It's a tent that is set up for a horse show and circus. This was taken during the initial setup. I haven't seen much more activity there since then, but signs are still up advertising the event.

Thanks, Bob, for explaining the picture was made with your full-frame high-dynamic-range Nikon. The picture is the proof of the pudding so to speak.

I incidentally looked up that tent and the reason for it. It's in Scottsdale. The show starts Feb 21, presale ticket prices range from $39.50 to $159.50 + applicable fees. The linked site includes a short video showing the raising of the Big Top.

Chuck, the actual tent is not truly in Scottsdale. It's right across the boundary of Scottsdale, Tempe, and on the Gila River Tohono O'odham Indian Nation. So, it's technically on Indian Land, but right across the city lines of both Tempe and Scottsdale. Thanks for looking up the additional information.
