Staten Island - Manhattan Day Trip

Postby Duck » Mon Jun 20, 2016 4:03 pm

This past Saturday I hosted a trip to NYC with the goal of riding the Staten Island ferry back and forth in order to get some close up images of the Statue of Liberty. Unfortunately, being Father's day (and the same day as the Mermaid Festival at Coney Island), our turnout was less than favorable (only one person showed). But we made a day of it and got some good shots. I'll be posting them here (and in a few other places) as the week goes on.

At the center of the park is a large bathing fountain. During the summer this is a favorite spot for locals to come to cool off.

Thanks Tom. It was definitely a great trip. NYC is a must visit destination for sure.
Here are a few more images...
These are some architectural shots I found interesting during our walk.

Of course, NYC wouldn't be what it is without their large fleet of taxi.
While I'm normally not a fan of the selective color editing, this particular image seemed to call for it.

Fallon and I thought about going there a few years ago. I suspect I would have spent most of the time following her around... shopping! :D (It's one of her favorite past times.)

Yep, and NYC is famous for its outlets and boutiques.
The only shopping I do in NY is window shopping. Even the food is expensive there.
Well, there is B&H... but I prefer shopping online for convenience -- though I've been known to walk in with a determined, "I'm not buying anything," and walking out broke.

These all make me regret I chose not to take the opportunity I had to go to New York last week Love walking around the city. Waiting for you to put up more shots.
