Off road at Rausch Creek

Post by Duck »

Went camping this past weekend with some friends. We were down in PA for Trailfest, a Jeep club sponsored off road event. Here are a few pics from my extended weekend.

Looks like plenty of mud to have fun in. Cleaning up afterwards is the soul destroyer.
I like the 3rd image a jeep caterpillar.

Thanks Tom, it was a great blast. I definitely put my vehicle through the gauntlet. Part of the appeal of being in a group is that you have a cheering squad through the rough parts and a "safety net" in case of mishaps. There were parts of the trail I would never have attempted by myself but watching other drivers bring their vehicles through the various challenges gave me courage to try them myself. Definitely built up my confidence. Now I can look at a pile of boulders and say, "yeah, I can go over that!"

Rausch Creek has four distinctive colors of mud; black, chocolate brown, rust red and clay yellow. You can see the beautiful layered effect in the last photo. I stuck my camera over the side as I went through one of the many mud puddles on the trails. You can see the various colors on the side of what is normally a silver Jeep.

I finally power washed the mud off yesterday on the pleadings of my wife. Ah, well, all good things pass...
