Light and line, interrupted by cormorant. A nicely composed image. I'm wishing I could get a closer look at him, but it so, some sky or sand would have to be sacrificed and all of it is nice. I do love the cormorant stance for wing-maintenance. He'll be back, so give us more...

Thanks for noticing the detail of the line, Minnie. I waited until the flow of the water reached that point before shooting. I doubt I can get any closer, though. There is a place about half an hour away, on the margin of a major state highway, where hundreds, yes, hundreds of these critters sit on the high-tension wires, like beads on hundred-yard strings, but there is nowhere to stop and photograph. I have asked other photographers and all have said "You can't get there." And I wouldn't know how to capture the expanse, if, somehow, I could tramp my way there. I may try again at this location, if the occasion permits. Matt
