The Look

Post by Matt Quinn » Sun Jul 29, 2018 3:28 pm

My wife and our granddaughter were happily browsing The American Girl Doll Catalog when the granddaughter looked up and saw the camera. She has grown accustomed, since birth, to seeing a camera in my hands pointed at her. But, I guess, this was one too many.

If she can wither me this way at 8, what will she do at 16?

I love this image! It’s a classic informal portrait of these two lovely ladies and you couldn’t have a better pose if you’d set it up and made them redo it till you got this! The role of the different shades of blue scattered round amid the other pastels give the image a Monet feel. Then the context items (stacks of books, your (?) hat, folded cloths) anchor the image in a real home environment. My favorite part is those curled toes just touching the wood floor. Run your noise removal program on it and print it, small size, on canvas or an art paper. If you do a canvas wrap you’ll need to add neutral space since the stuff on the edges is so important and you wouldn’t want to lose any of it the the edge-wrap.

Thanks Minnie. My son's hat.

I love the long leg line leading to the curled toes and then back up to the owner and across the back of the chair to Maureen then down to the magazine, across the top of the right-hand page and back to Michaela. All happenstance; couldn't have arranged it if I had all day. Will clean it up and have a canvas/print made. Many thanks for the suggestion and comments. Matt
