HobbyHorse - A Little Photo Story

Post by minniev » Wed May 30, 2018 4:01 pm

We had a large family get-together a couple of weeks ago at our new/old house. One of the rituals of morning in this house is that someone treks down the long driveway to open the gate. I loved this task when I was a child, and the road seemed infinitely long with interesting things to explore on both sides: fields, a creek, a couple of springs, a bridge, a dense forest. My 5 year old grandson, who is a lot like me, volunteered. My brother went with him as the gate is big and heavy. Somewhere along the road, Jack found an abandoned hobby horse who'd seen better days, but Jack was ecstatic at this discovery and gleefully rode him halfway home. When he could stand it no more, he picked up the hobby horse and ran with it to show us. When he left, the horse was parked beside the other vehicles at the shed, where he is keeping a watchful if weather-weary eye on the road, waiting for the return of his new master.

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

In the age of electronics, I find it amazing he knew exactly how to ride it. A child knows no bounds! S-
