This child was carried in by it's mother, it was in great distress, as was the mother.

The nurses grabbed a trolley and some equipment and started work immediately. While one nurse is palpating the child's abdomen the others are trying to insert a cannula.
Although I don't know for sure my guess is that the baby was dehydrated due to severe diarrhoea, a common problem amongst children here.

Frank just pointed out to me that I had already posted this picture albeit a different version. Put it down to either my age or not taking enough water with it 8~

Doesn't matter. It remains a wonderfully effective and affecting piece of photojournalism.
