Beach Boy

Post by minniev » Thu Jul 06, 2017 5:22 pm

Since this isn't even approaching a portrait I'll post it here, BUT I always appreciate feedback no matter where!

This is another of my beach series (I'm actually making some prints for the boys to have in their rooms.

The 5 year old is so colorful I can't go to monochrome for him. He's my artist and cultivates his own style which I hope comes through. The sunglasses are part of his "look".

I am ambivalent about the people in the background. I am sorry that his arm makes a line with his brother - though his brother makes a nice contrast, the they are connected. I completely love the pose you captured him in. If I was a twelve year old girl, I would watch him closely so that I could duck when he tried to kick sand into my face. He owns that bright yellow, he owns the beach - the world is at his fingertips.

I love Piet's description of his personality! IMO his strong presence overshadows the less than perfect placement of the boy with the shovel. Very enjoyable shot!

I was vexed at first about big brother in the background, but since it's for the family, they may like having him there. He is quite a character, this is the one who means for us to open an art gallery together, he is sure we will become rich beyond compare, and already has the sign ready for installation.

He holds his own for a middle brother, and color is his signature. Thanks Linda

Thanks for dropping by Ernst. The Olys do a right smart job of color, and this kid has always got color going on.

I've often wondered what James Bond look like as a child. Now I know. 8): Nice shot!

Ha :D Thank ya!

He passed over the kids' sunglasses to pick this pair out. Style-child.

You put it here for comment so I’ll say I think it’s a good shot and agree with Piet about the brother and arm….I’ve plenty of these and think they are great as should you..I did notice just the one lonely cloud up there though and went in to look and noticed some strange things going on in the sky.. nicely done minniev, vivid and on point..
