Street photos in Chatham, Cape Cod

Post by Matt Quinn » Sun Aug 19, 2018 1:35 am

We visited a fine art fair where I bought a b&w print (no surprise ) from a local artist, then wandered the streets before heading home. A few photos from the afternoon. Titles:

Red alert

You eat fast

She waited; now what?

Reserved seats

Foggy landing

I’m with Piet. The passers by are interesting, especially the lady “waiting to be seated’”, but the last one is a frame-worthy, soothing piece of art. What kind of processing on that one Matt? It’s gloriously rich in detail while still so softly textured. Begs for canvas.

Frank, Minnie, Ed,

Sorry to be so late in replying. We had company last week and this, and will have more next week. So I am snatching this time while they are reading after after bbq-ed salmon, some shrimp, lobster claws and other Capish stuff like homemade ice cream at The Schoolhouse.

Thanks for the encouraging comments on foggy landing. Memory is vague and the history screen contains only Lightroom steps. Here's what I believe I did.

Auto tone in Lightroom or PS, then a little brightening and warming up on CEP, then into Topaz photofxlab where I used one of the presets -- can't recall which, sorry -- then back into Lightroom where I darkened the lower left section with the graduated filter, starting in the bottom left corner, using a 45 angle and pulled it up 1/3 of the way to darken the boat on the left and the hill above.

For comparison, here is the final and the original sooc.

Yes, I will have a canvas made and maybe even some greeting cards. Thanks. Matt

On my morning stroll, "Painterly effects" leaped out of memory. Perhaps that was what I used in Topaz. Perhaps. Thanks. Matt
