Narrator of Books

Post by Ernst-Ulrich Schafer » Wed Aug 09, 2017 4:45 pm

Laura came to the studio the other day with the need of some headshot portraits. Her lst experience with another photographer didn't turn out for her needs (smiley portraits in a grass field) etc. I took the time to listen to her and what she wanted. She seems to be quite popular in her niche and is competing with east coast narrators. Of course I suggested BW portraits and lets crop them square for you as I believe this will make you stand out. Here are three of my favs from the session.

She looks like a very capable person. Great shot, as always.

Knowing your style and how you will often emphasize a certain part of a portrait, specially if it applies to the person's profession, I wonder why you chose to cover her mouth on the last one.

Thanks Minnie. Duck, I was just adding a portrait with my "Personal Project" in mind, "Hands by the Face".

I'm not a fan of the second with the finger digging into her face, or the third stifling her voice, but what do I know about portraiture anyway?

For me it was the first from the start. That sense of knowing she owns the moment and is letting you in on a secret is telling to your work!

Thank you for sharing these. Wonderful as always! S-
