Obsolete Point & Shoot FILM Camera Resurrected by Celebrity

Post by Charles Haacker » Mon Mar 19, 2018 10:11 pm

Y'all know that I am pretty emphatically no longer a film guy. I cannot imagine going back to film for any reason. But I was startled when I came across this:
How Kendall Jenner is bringing back film (and ruining it for some) <== (this is a live link)
Contax T2.jpg
This camera was made from 1990 to 2000 by Kyocera in Japan. Accordingly to what I have read, up until recently (Kendall Jenner?) the used, obsolete, electronics-might-die-any-second P&S FILM camera sold for around $300 in good condition (presumably working but for how long?).

Now it sells for between $700 to $850.

Why?

Yes, the FIXED 38 mm f/2.8 lens is a real Zeiss. The camera has good electronics and seems flexible enough. Some articles insist it was built for the professional market.

Huh? Say what?

I have to think there's a certain celebrity steampunk thing goin' on here. :| :| :| :S

If the rich and famous are using it, it must be wonderful!
I'll settle for having a digital camera that looks enough like an old school film camera that people think I"m cool.

:D One of the things I like best about the A6000 is it's no bigger than my Nikon P7800. They look a lot alike, and they don't look professional at all, so no one pays the slightest attention. :)
