You have no excuse for not shooting wildlife, and their environments. There is hardly a place in the US which is more than 2 hrs from a National Wildlife Refuge, Some are relatively small in size, and a few rival small states, but all contain unique and diverse species of wildlife and plants.

Below is a link to the US Fish & Game Natl Wildlife Refuge locator map. Do yourself a favor and go to oene of these almost all have auto tour roads, as well as trails and and lookout points.
(and don't overlook small state parks.)

There are no banal subjects in photography, but an infinite number of banal ways to illustrate them.

Excellent resource, these are wonderful places that never have big crowds and offer both wildlife and amazing scenery.

Another great resource is the Audubon Society. They have chapters, and what they call Important Bird Areas (IBAs), all over the world. They even have online resources for photographers.
