FLOWERS

Well most of our flowers are gone, but I found some honeysuckle growing on the garden fence. Then once I was done with my obligation, I pulled out a shot of some tulips from our weekend in Nashville a couple of weeks ago, and edited it for an artish look.

It's a little skewed. I may can fix it with the geometry tools. It may look more skewed than it is because the table is round, but the window needs straightening.

This week's prompt: "hometown".

Well I don't live in any town, I live in a boring unincorporated subdivision that's unaffiliated. So, I photographed the little town where my country house is and where I spent so much of my childhood. There isn't much left of it, just a few empty buildings, a church, a municipal building, a post office and a tiny cafe that's open on weekends. The old oak tree still stands, strong as it ever was, near the site of the mill where corn was ground into grits and cornmeal. i used to love riding in the mule-drawn wagon with the farm foreman to take the corn to town partly for the fun of the wagon ride and partly for the fun of sitting in the "talking circle" where the men gathered to visit while waiting for their mill products to be readied, listening to all manner of news and stories. Locals have kept rebuilding the "talking circle" long after the mill was gone, and it is still used. There's a walking track where the mill was, and locals still gather under the tree to visit.

I rendered this almost down to cartoon style art on purpose, left my shadow on purpose, but added a little shadow of the "me" from 60+ years ago.
