that last image is amazing - I can't imagine the effort that the painter took on this! How on earth did he do it... He couldn't exactly step away to see what it looks like..
I was kind of blown away by the scale of the thing, which was why I had to research it to see what it was all about.

Oh that mean Wheel! S-
The wheel always challenges me, but I think I'm better for it. If I was picking my own subject for the 52 I would just shoot swamps and birds, and not leave my comfort zone.

I know it ain't critique but.....move the cloud I know that's why you kept it wide...for me all the other stuff detracts from your wonderfully captured subject and a bit more portrait crop would accent I think......

Wheel gave me "Urban Decay".
Since I was headed to Nashville for the weekend I assumed I'd have no problem finding urban decay in a city that large. Nashville surprised me with its cleanliness, its rapid absorption/renewal of wrecked architecture. Decay turned out to be hard to find. In the Nations industrial district, known for its blight in the very recent past, I found several huge grain elevators in various states of disrepair and began photographing them. But on the side of one I found this giant, rather amazing mural. It is emblematic of the renewal of Nations, and of the people who've stuck it out here, like the 91 year old subject of this portrait. https://1075theriver.iheart.com/feature ... ries-tall/. Fanciful processing of course.
Very cool find Minnie, and I love the processing as it matches the overall image to a TEE !!!

Thanks Dave. I can't imagine how anyone could do such huge portraits.

Wheel gave me Trees so

I call this "The Tree That Wants To Kill My House". It is an ancient sweetgum, and when I got the house, an enormous limb had grown through the roof and into one of the bedrooms, where it had become home to squirrels, bats, mice, and raccoons. The first year was centered around extricating the thing from the house, fixing the room, redoing the interior, cleaning up, and trimming other suspect limbs. Then a storm with straight-line winds of tornadic levels passed through several weeks ago, shearing off two more tree-sized limbs that missed the house by less than a foot. The crashdown broke the large Sitting Rock that has been beneath the tree for over a century. Impressive.

A photo of the pressed tin roof shingle material is my background, then just a stack of stuff, playing with watercolor brushes and texture and lines.

I'm not satisfied with it either, probably for the same reasons. It has about 20 layers already so I may just start over. I've been trying to get away from using filters and learning more about using PS brushes to accomplish the same things, but I'm not there yet.

also, if I judge the size from the house, this tree is massive, but still hard to scale due to perspective and such. Consider putting a person or dog or something that we can scale from next to it - even if it is in post...
