Re: Minnie's 52

My 52 assignment this week was “scattered”. Times up and I’m in Sallis with no computer or internet. Grabbed some marbles and rolled them across the porch just after sunrise. This is my alternate workflow,
Regular camera
Ipad with card reader, no computer
LRCC
No internet
Cobbled together WiFi hotspot using phone with one bar of service sometimes
Bonus:Old eyes with newly great distance vision but poor close vision

One of my goals this year has been to invent a workflow for away-from-home that didn’t require hauling my heavy and outdated laptop everywhere, but allowing me to use my ipad for downloading, some editing, posting, and other on-road tasks. I’m getting there! I have until July before my next big trip, so I gotta figure it out. Since I’m already paying for LRCC in my monthly tribute to Adobe, I figured I oughta learn how to use it.

This looks like fun and would be a great stock image! S-

This weeks challenge - Time

I’m at my Old House for a few days and there is no greater time warp than this. I live, except for my husbands cell phone, exactly as I did in 1950, and much as my mother did in 1920, which isn’t very different than my grandmother lived in 1905. So I looked for a way to capture that and settled on my grandfather’s clock, stopped for 60 years now, surrounded by pictures of him, his son who died young, my grandmothers cousin, all people who lived vibrant interesting lives in this house. I overlaid one of the scans I made from the old family ledger from their store with the date visible.

Minnie, Just got to the marbles; marvelous. Love the arrangement of the marbles, as well as the arrangement of the colors. I looked for marbles last summer but couldn't find the clear ones; these bring back my youth. And a cigar box. And carving doors in the sides. And playing "the house" for a penny a roll. Thanks. Matt

Minnie, And now, I just got to "Time." Wonderful touch in the page from the past. Great homage to your family. Well done. Matt

Thanks Matt, on both photos. I love taking pictures of marbles, have had a ton of fun with them. Bought them at Hobby Lobby in a tin box with pickup sticks, tiddly winks, and something else for $3 for the boys. I've enjoyed them as much as the boys have.

My time at my new/old house is a very different kind of photo project, more comtemplative and exploratory than my usual wandering the roads. Here, I wander on foot (am learning to drive a fourwheeler), and think on a different level, not just visually but emotionally.

June 3 - Low Angle

Well it didn’t turn out quite as low angle as I wished, but I was lying on the ground so it was as low as I could get. This little statue of St Francis is beside the house, and I’ve never laid down to try and get his downcast face with that rather unsettling aberration that I think may be the former home of an insect of some kind. So here he is. He doesn’t get a texture because he brought his own.
