These are both nice. I prefer something in between. I love the metallic look of the leaf brought out with your processing, and the directional sign it gives leading us through the image.
I love how we all see things differently and in the same way show things according to how we see.

I like the first for what it is, but the second more as it constrains the image to the story I understand.

Photography really is amazing! S-

Matt's Project 52: A Year in B&W

#52-83: A stolen magnolia bloom

The bride brought this home from her morning walk. Didn't ask; she didn't tell.

Thank you, Steve. I think I had a breakthrough when I read Overgaard's comment. Matt

That is gorgeous Matt. You're just getting better and better with the management of light in your monochrome images.

Thanks Minnie. I don't know what happened or how, but I somehow see differently now after that insightful statement from Overgaard. When I shared the photos with a professional photographer whose workshops on Lightroom I have taken, he said I was now "moving in the right direction." When I asked what that meant, he replied "just approaching the light rather than the actual subject." Too mystical for this grasshopper. I hesitate to ask again. Do you have any idea what he means?
