Matt's Project 52: A Year in B&W

#52-44: Downtown Boston from a window at Mass General Hospital

While the bride was busy with details of her appointment, I wandered the halls with my Sony Cybershot.

I don't know the names of any of the prominent buildings: sorry. I know one is not The Pru nor is one the State House.

Matt
I really like this. I think it's the diagonal supports, but the beautiful lines and that processing really help! S-
Thanks Steve. Always encouraged. Matt

I would have manually cropped in avoiding all the black space, I would have been wrong. Wonderful! S-
Not wrong, just a different look. Thanks. Matt

Matt's Project 52: A Year in B&W
#52-47: Through an Open Gate

I am posting this here and in the critique section since I can't realize the full potential on my own and want to move farther with this one. I had spent time beforehand contemplating the photo and framing it in my mind, knowing that I wanted to find a way of taking Minnie's suggestion on an earlier posting of this cemetery of keeping the gate and its details in focus. I couldn't spend much time framing and shooting on scene because the cemetery is on the side of a busy state highway but with intervening moments with nothing coming either way. No time for a tripod, though; just a quick frame and shoot then a quick dodge to the edge of the road. I have looked at this for two days and thought about it but only today fiddled with it in Lightroom and SEP2. All thoughts and suggestions most welcome. Many thanks.

I like both these cold images, Matt, but particularly the ones with the birds. Yeah, I’m partial to birds, I know, but they offer contrast with the icy limbs. Life.
