Minnie,
In the Moon thread I gave you a little mini tutorial about halo repair. It's magic.

Thanks. Just saw it and will try. Also will try again with the moon tonight. Matt

Frank, Need some help. I have exported the image into PS, and selected the stone as subject. It is now alone on a checkered background. I want to put it on a completely black background. How do I do that? Thanks. Matt

Create a new layer and fill with black. Drag the image layer To the top of the stack. If it won’t drag, click the little lock by the layer icon and tr again. Yell if it doesn’t work.

Basic questions, Minnie: how do I fill the new layer with black? Is the image layer the one with the initially imported image or the one with the stone selected and the checkered background? Thanks. Matt

Minnie, More basic questions .(Feels like I am juggling a dozen raw eggs. Hard to remember which egg is which while it is in the air.) Any way, here's where I am:

exported original image again into PS and selected the subject and got the marching ants around the stone. How do I then get the stone onto the checkerboard background? ( Forgot how I did that yesterday)
Next, I have followed the directions to create a totally black layer. How do I then put the white stone on the black layer? (Since the stone layer will contain only the stone, the result should be an image with a white stone and a black background, if I understand layers correctly. How do I do that? I have looked at several videos and tried what they suggest but don't get the result I want so I must not be doing it correctly. Seems like it should be simple but I am probably clicking where I should be clucking. Clueless! ) I think this image has potential and really want to get it right. Thanks. Matt

Matt try this….after you have made your selection hit command “c” then make a new blank layer the command “v” then new solid color layer and pick your color then drag that layer below the layer with the section on it…..let us know...
