I like both these cold images, Matt, but particularly the ones with the birds. Yeah, I’m partial to birds, I know, but they offer contrast with the icy limbs. Life.
Thank you Minnie. I didn't venture a guess on the kind of bird; probably starlings. But they were only a few and huddled against the cold. Matt

and a line of "ghost" trees to the back. How did you do that? Were they in the sun while the near trees where somehow shaded?

Exactly. Only after I had processed the photo did I notice the buds; I was more focused on the contrasting light and shadow when I was shooting. This is the walking path in the 55+ community where we live. The houses behind me were casting the shadows on the nearer trees. Thanks. Matt

Matt's Project 52: A Year in B&W
#52-52: A Shadow of Myself; Signing Off

Today, I received a confirmed diagnosis of lymphoma; tomorrow we see the oncologist for the verdict. So, this will be my final posting in this thread. My thanks for all the help and encouragement all have offered; I have learned a great deal.

Time permitting, I will start another thread....

Best to all.

Oh, Matt, I am so sad. You have been such an inspiration to me, and I think to everyone here. Your wit, your deep thought, your creativity, and your talent are such a rare combination. My prayers are with you for strength and courage and outcome. You must let those of us here who care so much about you know how you are.
