The Killer Mr. Jerry Lee Lewis

Postby Bobby Deal » Sun Dec 14, 2014 8:45 am

Been working through a lot of old event photos recently trying to get the events section of my portfolio in better order. Came across a set of images I shot at a live performance by Jerry Lee Lewis at Viva Las Vegas.

While they were shot in color I just felt they had a much better look in black and white. Even though I had a press pass I was having to fight and shoot through holes and over the shoulders of the others in what was the most crowded press pit I have ever been in. I swear they must have given every internet site related to the 50s a press pass. The stage was seriously elevated so the angle of approach on these is from lower than I would have liked but it was none the less a memorable event.

It would have been worth the battle to see and shoot one of the Ledgends of Rock!

Indeed it was, the year before I was privileged to photograph Chuck Berry on the same stage

Bobby, being in Vegas you have the advantage of capturing celebrities where most of us would not have that opportunity. Do you think you'll miss opportunities such as this after you move? I would. Nice image of Jerry Lee Lewis !!!

No opportunities are where you make them. I will have no less option to do what I do in the Denver area
