Three Cameras - One Spider

This is a spotted orbweaver. Its web is currently residing on the outside of my deck railing. I am never able to decide which camera to use when trying to get closeups of critters, flowers, etc. I have three bridge cameras with macro settings. Since the spider was cold and rather immobile, I decided...

Re: Bumblebees with a Cell Phone

Thanks so much for the flower ID, Martha! I have these up on my Flickr as well and I have amended the captions to include this information. There's quite a line of sedum on our side of the fence so I'll be sure to let my DIL know that if she wishes to expand the bed it's as easy as laying a branch ...

Re: Bumblebees with a Cell Phone

You and your phone did an admirable job, druthers aside. BTW the flowers are sedums specifically sedum spectibile most likely "Autumn Joy" aka Stonecrop. Very durable plants. If you sever a branch and lay it on the ground, usually, in no time, it will put down roots, turn upward, and voila...

Re: Car Fire at Walmart

Great job! Very dramatic. Quite an inferno, I can almost feel the heat. Makes me think twice about where I should be parking. Perhaps way in the back, far from other vehicles, would be safer - walk would be good for me, too.

Re: Matt's Project 52: A Year in B&W

You are off to a good start with your first two photos. I especially like the first. Hope you manage to keep it up and finish. I did a 365 several years ago (have to admit I missed about three days) - also started a 52 here a while ago but didn't keep up. Feeling that I have been neglecting my camer...

Eclipse - No photo here

Decided at the last minute to drive the couple of hours into Tennessee to take in the total eclipse. Saturday I waited in line in 94 degree heat in the blazing sun for four hours to buy a pair of glasses. Sunday, I studied the map of the eclipse path through Tennessee, finally settling on a little t...
