Re: Aboriginal Art

I'm a big fan of aboriginal art so these have appeal to me. The framing is a neat creative approach. Is this one of the places with no tripod allowed? I would also want to try a composite with differential focus, both the foreground "frame" and the subject seen through the middle being in focus. I c...

Re: Statue

Had to come back to this; As with many B&W I do, I like to reduce contrast, vibrance, saturation and clarity all the way down to open up the grays. This then gives me plenty of scope to play around later. A quick play with Topaz B&W efects2. No further adjustments done to grays. I think to further ...

Re: Swoosh

I very much like it! I feel it's a right track thing, but for me something seems lacking, like savor in the soup. To me there is nothing at all wrong per se, the picture is wonderfully dramatic, so I suspect it's something in the finishing. Don't. know. what... (?) I am gonna try Frank's suggestion...

Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion - August 2018 - Edward Steichen's "Moonlight"

I like Chuck's comments about this very much. I am with him 100 percent - I would have this hanging on my wall in a heartbeat. It gave me much to think about with it's understated beauty and mood. Since a master such as he is intended to be imitated, I paid him homage by attempting to edit an image...

Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion - August 2018 - Edward Steichen's "Moonlight"

I see that I missed the July discussion but it's probably just as well. Steichen's Moonlight is the diametric opposite of the pictures from July. Restful, peaceful, contemplative, one wants to sit on the bench just behind one and just watch the moon come up. I confess I had never seen this astonish...

Why oh why does a portrait have to be so flat and boring

Re: Minnie's 52

Wheel gave me "Urban Decay". Since I was headed to Nashville for the weekend I assumed I'd have no problem finding urban decay in a city that large. Nashville surprised me with its cleanliness, its rapid absorption/renewal of wrecked architecture. Decay turned out to be hard to find. In the Nations ...

Matt's Project 52: A Year in B&W #52-94: Tents at sunrise and sunset Drummer Boy Park near our Cape Cod home hosts concerts, art shows and flea markets during the tourist months. Re: Matt's Project 52: A Year in B&W

Matt's Project 52: A Year in B&W #52:93: Home on the road home After a quick afternoon visit to our happy place overlooking the cove in Orleans--no-see-ums drove us away--we passed this home ablaze with late sun. It shouted: Take my picture!. So I did. Matt Looks like I'd imagine a classic Cape Cod...
