Re: Dangerous Situations to Get that Photo

I love the stories so far and have plenty of 'I Should Be Dead' moments and even an 'I Saw The Light' story, but really only one with a camera that's memorable. .... Thank you Little-Bear! S- I love the bear story! And of course it reminded me of one I wanted to tell. I didn't think of it as danger...

Re: The EGG --- white on white

This is very old (2009) and I have some trepidation showing it at all as it was made with a P&S. I plan to repeat it as soon as I can, but at the moment I have no suitable setup. Please indulge me while I 'splain. When I was in school, a first year assignment was to photograph a single, white e...

Re: Ringing of the Bell

These are all wonderful. The middle one is very evocative, and tells a story anyone anywhere would understand. Pressed between the other two, they become an even stronger story. Thank you for sharing these. I agree with Duck that a book is in order. Your work of this sort, telling the quiet stories,...

Re: Industry

Truly a wonderful Industrial! I'm jealous! The composition is riveting, with the terrific shiny sinuous railroad track emerging from the left corner and leading rightward/upward to a distant, hazy city in the distance, weaving around the big Industrial with its billowing smoke, intricate architectur...

Re: 'Big Kahuna' (Composite)

I am late to the buffalo party. However, I agree in general with what Chuck and LInda are telling you about the background blur. I actually like the blur, and the darker grasses in the first version, but want it to be more consistent with expected DOF and not appearing sharper in the middle of the f...

Re: Variegated Fritillary

This is a wonderful image of a beautiful butterfly. Perfectly placed in the frame, perfect angle, great wing display and in the perfect setting with the mix of greenery and tiny flowers. And on top of that, a great photographic capture.

Really excellent work!

Re: Derailed

What a terrific, slightly sad picture. Hauntingly beautiful. The eintritt verboten sign is easily spotted. Looking past it, it looks as if the rails have simply been torn out. Only the ghosts of long gone steam trains may persist on this line. The sky is wonderfully foreboding, the light not quite ...

Re: Cosplay Project: Deadpool

These are wonderful Duck. As a grandmother with 3 little boys who love dressing up, this gives me ideas and inspiration. They are still more the age of being Ninja Turtles and Paw Patrols but the same principles apply, and one especially enjoys setting up photos and videos. Love the color treatment ...

Re: Lunchtime in Montmartre

I like the classic European city busy-ness and the detail available for me to discover as I move from one table to the next. What gives me an uneasy feeling is the downhill slope. Were they really seated at such a precarious angle? Or is that an illusion caused by shooting angle instead of street sl...

Re: Brawn and Beauty

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I freely admit this is a blatant plagiarism of Minniev's idea, "The Beauty of Ugliness." I notice we don't have an Industrial category here, so this seemed like the appropriate place to stage this image. We have a company in Burlington, NC t...
