Re: Hot 'n Dry

As with Steve's bear image, a good story enhances a good image. The heartless/endless sun and sky on a cloudless day are well captured here, and the way you've let the sky dominate explains the image well. The desert has beauty, color, and vibrancy, but it is a force to be reckoned with. Well done.

Re: Contentment

I like the simplicity of this image, and like the image of the boy, the concentration of the child upon what she's doing instead of posing! It's well shot from a nice angle, with appropriate processing choices for the subject. The reflections in those ripples add another dimension of interest, well ...

Re: Three Eggs

Thanks Erich, for posting it. I think it's a fine image, and now you must tell me whether you printed it, how you printed it, and how it turned out!

My thoughts:
Print on metal or glass.
Print on a heavily textured art paper.

Re: "Biker Dude"

This is a really cool series, glad you're continuing to add to it for us to enjoy. There is something geometrically wonderful about bicycles. I photograph them everywhere I go, though mine are less art(istic) than yours. Yours are so finely honed down to the elements of the geometry and the associat...

Re: 9/11

Excellent, powerful images for a powerful subject.

I'm curious about the first one, which looks like you've done some texture work with it. If you'd be willing to share a little about your methods, I'd be very interested. It is a wonderful result.

Re: Street Musician

Excellent image, and a very compelling image that's a classic demonstration of how a powerful portrait can be made without any face at all. Most people can't do what you do (which involves the vision, the technical skills and the editing skills) but you give us proof that it's possible!

Re: Window ode to Ernst-Ulrich Schafer

Duck: First, I agree with you that we all learn and grow from Ernst's considerable gifts that he kindly shares with us here. And learning from one another is the most powerful benefit a photo forum has to offer. In the media interviews I did about my gallery show, I always pointed out that the great...

Re: Rock Bottom 3

The photo is excellent - well "spotted" (how could you not?), well taken in challenging light, well processed. But much as I enjoyed the photo itself, Steve's and Matt Quinn's comments took the thread to a new level. Though I'm sick as a dog, I just couldn't help laughing. Thanks to all 3 ...

He is gorgeous! Beautifully captured with the detailed white feathers and the colorful leaves in contrast. Excellent image!
