Re: Out_the_Window

Frank I love the photo and the presentation except for one thing: the white line of the window frame beneath her chin. I'd mitigate that if I were you. But her pensive gaze and the overall mood of the image: YES, love the hint of expression in that one quarter's view, the play of light across her fa...

Re: The Ethics of Landscape Photography - Article for Discussion

This is some pretty heady stuff that we should discuss around a table with some beer, wine or maybe even single malt Scotch. (I am all for this last one.) Philosophers have been debating what is reality for millennia. Plato contributed the story about shadows on the wall of the cave. They are the t...

Re: The Ethics of Landscape Photography - Article for Discussion

I believe if you own the land you may do as you wish….if not then don’t harm the landscape. As for deception the only person I occasionally try to deceive is myself. Believing it’s ok to pick up litter but not move a leaf sounds like a confused mind to me. For anything other than documentation, It’...

Re: The Ethics of Landscape Photography - Article for Discussion

I found the article to be well written and rich with food for thought. The term "willfully deceive" the viewer resonates with me because it's how I feel about composites that are not revealed as such. And yes, this feeling is contradictory to how I feel about edits that "enhance"...

Re: Flight

Minnie, I thought it would help me to write explicitly what I like in this image: the textured, parchment background; the stunning gradations of tones in the bird; the detail in the legs and toes; the off-center vignette on the bird; the decisive moment of beginning flight; the head and beak peekin...

Re: Artists palette

Hi All I will add one more of past work, then be gone for a week. I have a great fascination for painters studio, in particular their palette tables. Here is one I put my own touch upon. Thanks for looking. RBorud I see your touch. I like it, glowy neon colors and all. I am conflcted about the spid...

The Ethics of Landscape Photography - Article for Discussion

https://petapixel.com/2017/11/14/ethics-landscape-photography/ I'd like to know what others think about this. The conversation about my leaves http://www.photomentoris.com/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=3093 touched on these issues and got me thinking about my own opinions more deeply (which is just what...

Flight

I posted this bird a couple of days ago, this shot was taken seconds after the first, but I went down a different road processing. All comments and edits are welcome.

Re: Subdued Sunset in Mt. Tremblant Park

I love everything about this but especially the water in the lower-right. It reminds me of a painting it's so beautiful! This is what I see! S- I like it! That was my favorite part of the image. I thought briefly of eliminating it because it didn't match the rest, but decided I needed to keep it . ...
