Re: Philippines1

The alter feels a bit constricted, without room to the left and right and a little low. It seems to lean a little too although barely noticeable. It's an amazing piece and while I wasn't there I wonder if it would have been better presented from a few feet higher, maybe on a step stool or something ...

Re: Daphne, My Wife, 2011

I came across this today while digging through old files. This was a purebred snapshot, and it was pretty bad. I made it with a Nikon P7000. She was chatting with her sister. I never showed it to her because it was pretty bad and she absolutely loathed getting old (and well don't we all). But since...

Re: San Jacinto Peak by Land and Air

Wow, the six pack sounds like quite a challenge! Must have given you some breath-taking views. I pretty much described my shooting experience two posts above where I posted an original unedited version of one of the shots. I did not find vibration to be a problem. Angle was only a problem when I sa...

Re: San Jacinto Peak by Land and Air

... Among them I discovered were several aerial views of San Jacinto Peak. ... This one has a special place in my heart as I've been to the top and back as part of A Six-Pack of Peak Challenge https://socalhiker.net/a-six-pack-of-peaks and can tell you the mountain is just as foreboding on it as it...

Re: The Davison House

If you do a web search for monitor calibration, you'll find a bunch of gadgets and technics for doing so. I had a decent gadget, it broke, and I'm too poor to buy an new one right now. I haven't tried it, and I'm sure it will be a little off, but I think you could shoot a multi-color card and try t...

Re: Short Order Cook

This looks like a fun place and you've made it even better. It's not easy shooting into a kitchen and making it interesting, but you've done it here!

Shoot more of these, you have an eye for it! S-

Do you hide in the blind? I love the first. It's the color, but mostly the subtle amount of blur that gives the feel it's flying.

Thank you for sharing a behind the scenes look at your setup! S-

Re: Beer shot - first try

Thanks for the comments, folks. You're more than kind. I'll be trying it again this weekend but I'll grab some pilsners instead. They're easier to light and more forgiving. I also need a few more glasses. This one I used also has a lopsided edge. At certain angles it becomes really noticeable. I mi...

Re: A gentle winter landscape

... I'd be very interested in a discussion of the value of understated and gentle if anyone would like to engage. I accept that for some that's just a different way of saying boring :) This is minimalism as it's meant to be, subtlety used to tell a story, leading lines to direct you back, and soft ...
