Re: Selfie sort of

Thanks Ernst. This shot pretty much sums up my personality, more jokester than anything else.
As the saying goes, "if you're not having fun you're doing it wrong."
Or is it, "laugh and the world laughs with you. Slip on a banana peel and the the world laughs at you."

Re: Great-niece and nephew

Out of the two, the second is a better image on all levels (except maybe the dirty shirt ). The first image has a lot of visual distractions that are super easy to fix. The blankets on the floor and behind the chair really clash with the background. I'm not sure of the reasons behind their use, but ...

Re: Forsaken

This is a good exercise in how a photograph really doesn't capture the truth. The truth can only be inferred by what is presented to the viewer. If not enough information is given then the image is open to conjecture. This is why even in the news I don't believe half of what I see.

Re: Selfie sort of

Awe, you say the most flattering things... er, your nose is growing. Yeah, I agree the catch lights should appear the same. I'm also looking at the white of the right eye. That needs some touch up. As a kid I had lots of freckles (my Irish side) but I'm noticing with this process and at my age they'...

Selfie sort of

During a lighting workshop attendees took turns posing for the camera. This is a photo taken of me by one of my students. Since I wasn't behind the camera I'll not ask for posing critique but rather more on the processing technique. I am playing around with a more extreme push on the low key imagery...

Re: Event Photography Sales Avenues

Well, it's only one person getting pierced and he's a friend of ours so... I'll have to do some research to find out who the editors are of some of the body art magazines are and see if I can pitch them an article or at least photos from the event. If anyone knows what the going rate for magazine ph...

Re: Election night victory..

Yes, I agree, overall a nice series. Well exposed and great capture of the expressions. There is one thing that stands out for me though and I'll illustrate it with your first two images. The issue can be summed up like this, "what is the subject reacting too?" In the first image you can s...

Re: hot and cold

This is a great shot on many levels. Lighting-wise it's well done considering you were shooting through glass and that interiors are usually darker, which often pose problems in itself. Then there is the story the image tells. It's quite humorous and humor can sometimes be hard to sell if it's not o...

Re: Pichi Richi Railway..........

Some really great shots. Of course I also enjoy those obligatory photos of the other photographers in the group. A couple years ago I did a similar shoot of an old coal burner that makes an annual visit to a local RR museum. I had a chance to chat with the engineer while the train was reloading pass...

Re: Where the girls are!

Hey Pop, cute image. Has potential.
So, what is it you were trying to accomplish with this piece?
I think if we knew then maybe you'd get some focused comments from the group.
