Re: Swamp - Spring Knees

I think the atmosphere is great! I actually like the DOF. To me it is the best part of the image. It takes me deeper into the swamp where I would not venture otherwise. Cyprus knees have always captivated me. I would love to see them more clearly, although it is obviously not your fault because the ...

I, too, love the second one. I totally agree with Charles. A superb composition, wonderful light, perfectly processed.

A stately symbol of America, indeed! Handsome brute. You have really done it justice. I love the sepia processing.

Re: Feeding Time

This is a worthy effort in which the birds and trees did not fully cooperate. You did your job! You got tack sharp images of a wonderful sight, and I'd be thrilled to have got these. Those beaks! those topknots! Thank you for sharing. I've never got to see such with my own eyes. Thanks! They were r...

Re: Baby Buden

Wow! I did not know they did that! I've always liked spiders but confess to not having studied them. My son, an admitted arachnophobe, will only kill a spider if he feels he really has no choice. He was raised by a father who constantly reminded him that "The spider if your friend!" He wo...

Baby Buden

Saw this mother wolf spider covered with her babies on the inside screen door to my patio. I had seen one carrying a large egg case a couple of weeks ago but she was too fast for me to catch a shot. Might be the same spider. I usually only see them on the ground running and hiding so I was surprised...

Feeding Time

I was trying to get some photos of young egrets, herons, and cormorants at the rookery in town. I wasn't having much luck because the trees are now fully leafed out obscuring most nests. Then I saw a great blue heron land in the top of one of the tallest trees and realized it had a nest there. It pr...
