Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion - December 2018 - Bruegel's "Census At Bethlehem"

Holy cow Duck - this is awesome. I had never considered the Gestalt rule of Proximity before. If I were a street photographer, I would now seek the contrast of crowds - vs not crowds. Or perhaps seek clumps of trees/bushes in a landscape. Something that struck me but that I was not able to verbalize...

Re: the sky is ink

your tinten composition would put the lie to that -- but your story goes far to say how skill overcomes talent. How hard work overcomes "its's easy". Talented people are lazy - it comes easy. The rewards are in the struggle. With PS, at least there is nothing that can't be undone/redone - the canva...

Re: the sky is ink

the bird is the Northern SkullCap - when they get stuck they scream even louder than the Australian OhNo bird! About dexterity, Me neither - but I'm getting closer and getting better at refining and seeing things wrong... But with layers and photoshop etc, dexterity is no longer a requirement! “Nor...

Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion - December 2018 - Bruegel's "Census At Bethlehem"

I like the subdued colors/light - reminds me of a cloudy day. I suspect Minnie likes Bruegel's kitchen sink very well. And I do too, everything seems to have its place and the images speaks about hustle and bustle and community and building, collecting, keeping things going, working, LIFE.

So I'm terrible with language and agree it's hard...so aren't the lines basically more or less a demarcation of where you are wanting to contour the light so to speak...again I think we are saying the same thing....minniev you can hop in any time and lend a helping comment or two... you help me thi...

Re: Minnie's 52

This is wonderful Min. Love how you placed tomten and pig such that they were contrasted against the darkness. Love the fabric/texture of the basket in comparison to the other objects. Love how the candy cane and the flowers point towards our two friends. Love how it is sharp and clear up front and ...

Re: the sky is ink

Well done Piet, your artist is showing again…..as for lines, my thoughts are that they provide a guide for the light to be contoured around for whatever contrast is desired…I could also be wrong but this contrast is what forms shape (more contrast more shape} and contouring the light is the means t...
