Re: the sky is ink

So I'm terrible with language and agree it's hard...so aren't the lines basically more or less a demarcation of where you are wanting to contour the light so to speak...again I think we are saying the same thing....minniev you can hop in any time and lend a helping comment or two... you help me thi...

Re: Minnie's 52

This is wonderful Min. Love how you placed tomten and pig such that they were contrasted against the darkness. Love the fabric/texture of the basket in comparison to the other objects. Love how the candy cane and the flowers point towards our two friends. Love how it is sharp and clear up front and ...

Re: the sky is ink

Well done Piet, your artist is showing again…..as for lines, my thoughts are that they provide a guide for the light to be contoured around for whatever contrast is desired…I could also be wrong but this contrast is what forms shape (more contrast more shape} and contouring the light is the means t...

Re: the sky is ink

In Frank's Hoodie thread we were discussing Form and Light - here I drew another head, added the bird and twigs, painted light on the planes, and then ran it through a bunch of filters and used masks to be selective. (A very sloppy and fast effort, but wanted to continue the discussion. I don't know...

Re: Hoddie

Your last image was a vast improvement over my earlier cut, I was just thinking aloud... I hope I am slowly improving. Sometimes I feel like a dog that is chasing his tail!

If I can go just a little bit faster, and stretch just a little bit further, I'll be able to take a solid, hard bite!!

Re: Hoddie

So Piet, This is really to (pester you-just kidding) gain more of your insight than to put you on the spot, as I feel you have learned to see better than I so far.....is this less muddy and flat??? with more impact and depth.... To answer your question - Yeah, I think so... Thank you for the compli...

The dog makes me smile, and makes me miss Toby. I still haven't been able to get my husband to let us get another, though it's been 3 years.
also, it may be time to start dropping "not so subtle" hits. You could get a robovac and tape ears and a tail on it, and paint the name Roby on him.

Re: Hoddie

I like what you did, could use some "form building". Points: I like the disappearing edge, back side right of the hoodie. Inside of hoodie on camera right and lower right hoodie overall, make darker (so the cheek is more pronounced) Less light on the nose, and the right side behind the edge even dar...

Re: Dam Bird Christmas Decorations

very cool - the blocks remind me of packages... perhaps some Christmas packages to the left to lead into the block steps, and transition the boxes into the steps. the bird is climbing into the light up and away from the commercialized version of Christmas into a higher definition and meaning
