Re: Lone Fisherman

A very strong silhouette. I agree that the shiny pits could be a distraction. I think the best part of this photo is how you managed to make the water look. I think it is really well done. Bravo.

Re: Three Eggs

In answer to your question about the background. You are right that there is usually some kind of line between the horizontal and the vertical planes. One way to avoid that is to use a uniform colored cloth that starts above your frame and curves rather than makes a sharp angle where it meets a tabl...

Re: Three Eggs

Thanks Dave. This was a bit of a departure from the usual for me as well. High key is not something I do very often. I was trying to capture just the lines of the objects and a bit of the shadow. Minniev suggested that I post this photo along with my comments about Mr. Weston in the Master's discussion for this month. I don't think it belongs in that thread. I do like this photo and I would be very interested in hearing your comments concerning this image. If you don't like it, I'd be intere...

Re: Day's end, evening storm approaching

Hi Matt, These comments pertain mostly to the first image posted. I like that you chose an aperture that made the image sharp from the foreground all the way to infinity. The lighting is very moody and, to me, appealing in this image. I love the clouds which are dramatic and have a nice amount of co...

Re: Rock Bottom 2

Not quite sure what is going on here. (I probably don't want to know). It is, however, a technically nice image.

I like this a lot. The light is really nice and you did a great job with the exposure. I find the reflective sign across the street from the couple to be distracting. I think I would remove that.
