Re: Aboriginal Art

I've recently been getting away with using a monopod ( http://www.photomentoris.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4201&p=33761#p33761 ). The camera is not mounted on it but rather cradled in it, and hangs around my neck otherwise while I use the monopod as a kind of walking staff. I've been in several museums...

Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion - August 2018 - Edward Steichen's "Moonlight"

I like Chuck's comments about this very much. I am with him 100 percent - I would have this hanging on my wall in a heartbeat. It gave me much to think about with it's understated beauty and mood. Since a master such as he is intended to be imitated, I paid him homage by attempting to edit an image...

Well done Chuck, love that water..
Thank you, Frank. When I searched for the water I had only a fuzzy idea what I wanted, so I felt lucky to find that shot free on a wallpaper site. I thought even the colors all worked well together.

Re: Swoosh

I very much like it! I feel it's a right track thing, but for me something seems lacking, like savor in the soup. To me there is nothing at all wrong per se, the picture is wonderfully dramatic, so I suspect it's something in the finishing. Don't. know. what... (?)

Re: Experimenting with liquid pour shots

I think the pour-into-no-glass trick is a sure winner. Very out-of-the-glass imaginative! You got the right stuff, Duck. (OK)

Re: August Fingerwork #5 - If there be dragons

I LOVE IT! Needs something? What? I think it's perfect. I'm never afraid to shoot in full sun, especially back light (that there is no light like)... I think everything works perfectly here, and the text and font chosen are also perfect. Perfect is perfectly perfection. I'm not sure it can be improv...

Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion - August 2018 - Edward Steichen's "Moonlight"

I see that I missed the July discussion but it's probably just as well. Steichen's Moonlight is the diametric opposite of the pictures from July. Restful, peaceful, contemplative, one wants to sit on the bench just behind one and just watch the moon come up. I confess I had never seen this astonishi...

Re: I bought a new tripod

Just congrats Piet. My bride and I always danced around the idea of a boat. We used to go to all the spring boat shows, but over the long haul it just never happened. But we did get Rosie the Tiny Tent Trailer and she is kinda like a boat. Lovely pictures! (Never forget, keep one hand for the ship a...
