Model Railroad Show in Lincoln

Daphne and I were both train nuts, and every year in February we would go to the Madison Model RR show. In the past my focus was usually pretty straightforward, but this was a new show and I had my new Sony A6000 with its very sophisticated follow-focus ability, plus as a mirrorless there is no blac...

Re: Revisiting an old School Exercise

Your original is a little skewed, but ironically I've read your left side is your best side and you've shifted that way naturally. Neat! S- Which Side Is Your Good Side? Here Comes the Science "It turns out humans do have a preference, studies show: left is best." Try it - How symmetrical is your f...

Re: Spring?

They are all lovely and I wish they were here, where we currently have 2+ inches of fresh snow down plus "wintry mix," which always sounds like something made from Chex cereal around the holidays only not. :D

Re: Rainbow Dyed Daisies (DOF testing)

Great demo, Chuck! Your indoor tests will serve you well for whenever spring finally arrives. And somehow, it always does! I used to want to smack my co-workers in Maine, though, when they'd remark about an April SNOW shower: "oh it won't stick." HA HA Get well soon! In Lincoln we are at this minut...

Rainbow Dyed Daisies (DOF testing)

So, sick as I've been and unable to get out of the house I took advantage of these wild-dyed daisies (there's a tiny terrible very bad pun buried in there) brought over for Erin by some guests. They were sitting on the table with the bright translucent blinds about 6 feet behind. The only light on t...

Re: Reeds in Fog

I love it! As is! Very minimalist but the texture definitely makes it! I personally would not add or subtract a thing from it. Curiously it immediately put me in mind of Andrew Wyeth! Maybe it's the texture, or the detail in the reeds...

Re: A Brace of Dam Birds

I'm very drawn to #1 and #2, with a slight preference for #2 because the dam bird stands out better with the dark surround. I think it works very well in monochrome, but I could wish s/he was not almost about to rap her beak on the massif in front of her. If only s/he'd back up about a beak's length...

Re: A Table Awaiting a Reservation for Two

Puts me immediately in mind of the plethora of dark and moody still-lifes of the late 16th -- early 17th centuries. Lots of rich, saturated color but in a very dark milieu. (Y)

Thanks, Chuck. Noticed the new avatar. Cool. For your consideration:

Brown truck, brown truck's here!
New eye sees Andy anew
Daphne would approve

Thank you, Matt! A very special haiku!
