Re: Old Mill Two Ways

I think they are both great, very well done. I think I prefer the first, maybe because I cannot tell what it is at a glance. My first thought was, "prison."

Re: 'Destination Unknown'

Wonderful, wrenching (!!) shot. I hear your empathetic pain and concern, Dave. It's why I applaud your courage to do street, and reiterates why I can never do it. I think photographers who have the grit and compassion to do it are to be admired and commended.

Re: Othello, Performed On A Frozen Stage

the orchestra... :D (Not totally off topic: for many, many years I've seen water birds hanging out on ice and wondered if they have no nerves in their feet. Drove past a frozen watercourse just yesterday and there were a couple of hundred Canada geese just hanging out, standing mostly, right on the...

Re: The Rainbow Factory

Goes quite literally to the "frozen moments in time" metaphor. (OK)

Re: Othello, Performed On A Frozen Stage

Okay so now I hear Verdi! (Joe Green.) Poor doomed Desdemona stands shivering in the follow spot while slowly-going-mad Othello lurches toward her and his own destruction while Iago preens and crows in misplaced triumph downstage center! Magnifica tragedia! You saw it! I see it! No, not too dark; pe...

Re: The Rainbow Factory

Wonderful! I love it. "Escheresque" was the first thing I said. I love the whole thing, rust and all (I like rust). The ice! The freezing mist! The light and shadows running directly counter to the lines of the structure! And the birds! Standing rigid, booted and spurred in the deathly cold, sentine...

Re: St3v3M's 30 Day: Rule Of Thirds

"Skyfire" attracts me very much, partly because the first thing I said aloud (yes, he does that too) was "Gurskyesque." I don't mean to be obsessed with Gursky but the horizontal linearity of the basic composition caught my eye immediately. As mad as it might be (and possibly over-channeling Gursky)...

Re: A pM Retreat? Share Your Thoughts

I am in favor of letting members who have budget or traveling constraints have first dibs on the location choice. Personally, I can travel just about anywhere (within reason, obviously) so any location is ultimately fine with me. Of course Maine (or within a day's drive?) would allow me to transpor...

Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion- Oct 2017 - Gursky's Rhein II

Here is an interesting new article that's actually BY Gursky, so I thought i'd share it. A little window into his creative process. https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2018/jan/18/andreas-gursky-each-photograph-is-a-world-of-its-own-best-photograph-salerno-harbour THANKS for this, Min!
