Re: The Wilderness

Thanks, Steve. We were at Mono more times that we could count but never went to Trona, possibly because I destroyed a car going to Bodie once. Re: For Purple Mountain Majesties

THANKS! And I am mildly ashamed to say we were never there despite 30 years in California! Admittedly I avoided dirt roads with normal cars because I destroyed on once getting to Bodie. (N)

Re: The Wilderness

The second is definitely more A.A.-ish. One way he got those black skies was using yellow, orange, or even a red filter. Those colors darken blue, and being at higher altitudes makes the sky darker to begin with. If you don't mind telling, where are these formations? I think they are generally calle...

Re: HDR_ how many exposures do you need?

Interesting set of responses. I am yet to use my latest camera Canon 1dxMkii for hdr, but I know the old one Canon 1ds Mkii has an exposure range of 10 1/3 stops extrapolated. I know that if inside a building and bright sun through any window, I cannot get detail from outside with detail inside. I ...

Re: Baby step in PS: Ta Dah!

Thanks, Chuck. I am a very patient man so I will take my time. I will look up Select and Mask to find out what it is and where it is on PS. The tutorial has not yet covered that. Reading about the amount of time you spent doing the work on the photo made me realize that the PS processing requires s...

Re: Baby step in PS: Ta Dah!

I've been a masking nut for as long as I've been in digital, now more than 10 years. I started with PS Elements which has most of the important PS tools. Three or so years ago I got into full-dress Photoshop and lately have been using the relatively new Select and Mask tool. Duck is SO right: "...sl...
