Re: Recommended reading/viewing

Thanks both of you for a wonderful photo essay and article! Once I thought I would be a journalist so I became very familiar with the double-ended red/blue pencil for editing. Andi loves nothing better than a pencil, colored or not. I hope they continue the manufacture; the article seemed to imply t...

Re: Barn and Tree

I like the original with its dead "eyes." Purely subjective as always of course. The sky coming through the windows does look a little unreal. I guess it could be interpreted as a reflection but I like the "dead eyes" aspect better as I think it goes with the overall mood set by the picture, which I...

I had no idea what Save For Web did. I found this explanation: https://photography.tutsplus.com/tutorials/save-for-web-better-jpeg-compression-with-adobe-photoshop--cms-23080 The summation: Saving images for web is a compromise. You want your image to load quickly, not take up too much space (this i...

Re: Cypress & Ice

Well, I just plain love it. I can't recall if you ever try to sell anything. You might get some bites if you had this and others you've made up on a stock site. It would make wonderful, restful wall art for offices and waiting rooms...

Re: Andromeda Gail Revels in Finger Painting

She's adorable and I love her little green nose! Thank you for sharing these with us! S- What do you all think about creating a photo book every couple of years? It would be a great keepsake! S- Thanks, Steve, and indeed I have created a bunch of photo books already. For Christmas I made a calendar...

Like you, Steve, I have both files open in tabs as I always do so I can toggle between them. I can see absolutely NO difference between them. I also thought perhaps they were the exact same file but I checked very carefully and see the different ID's on them, the second one Saved For Web (I've never...

Re: Bugs and Flowers, Oldies but Goodies We Hope

Thanks so much for the suggestions so far, folks. Duck, Min, I am very pleased to learn that my system is not extremely different from yours, even though I started it all the way back in 2007 and have not fundamentally changed it: a master folder for the year, then sub folders for each "shoot." I ha...

Re: macro lens at bird feeder

I see no evidence of a reflection in this shot. Do you mean on the day lit side or your side, in which case a black drape behind you should take care of it. If you exclude all light from behind you it would have the added benefit that the birds would have a hard time seeing you through the reflectio...
