I think your new softened approach works well here. There is plenty of detail (even freckles and catchlight), yet the blur gives us a dreamy transport back into another era. Very nicely done, hope you have a way to share this with the subject. I would probably crop in a bit and eliminate just a lit...

'Soldier Boy'

In an attendance of "1940s Day at Lunken Airport 2018". All sorts of planes, cars and people dressed up for the 1940's, along with swing dancers, dancing to the tunes of the big band era, all out on the tarmac. Thoughts and comments for improvements welcomed.
