"Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected." —Robert Frank

'Ruff Ridin' Randy

While in Deadwood, S.D. my wife and I were sitting on a park bench in front of an old train station, which had been converted to a museum. It was facing a large parking lot full of motorcycles, when I saw Randy ride by. My first thought was, "I would like to get a shot of that guy", but th...

Re: 'Finger Lickin' Good'

I'm digging the color here Dave. Not seeing the Finger Lick'n Good Man makes me wonder what caught your eye. ;-) Thanks Ernst !!! Actually my focus was on the Old #7 sign and everyone kept walking in front of me. Street photography can be a pain .... sometimes. Which reminds me of a quote from Geor...

Re: 'Finger Lickin' Good'

Thanks for the info Mr. Chinn.... Your welcome Frank !!! Hope it's useful for you. I tried to post the link from B&H and Adorama, but the link just led you the the main site, where you would have had to search for the item and that would have been a pain, but Nikon USA kept the product on the p...

Re: 'Finger Lickin' Good'

This is hilarious on so many levels, but for me what really makes the shot is Col. Sanders back there looking sidelong at the camera, having juuuust that second taken his eyes off, um... it's the salacious expression he wears, and somehow managing to look both at you and, um, simultaneously adds th...

Re: Holding_Hands

Where's the B&W Frank Rockwell? Actually, no need to show it, this is one superb image !!! After viewing this, you may have converted me back to color. An image that will be treasured for many years I'm sure. A tender moment thats a pleasure to view on any wall or in any book. Well done !!!

Re: Bumblebees with a Cell Phone

Busy, busy bees !!! Excellent cell phone usage Chuck. I have always been pretty negative with cell phone camera users .... until I need one myself !!! All are outstanding, but the first two get the prize for me. I may just put the DSLR away and carry two cell phones after seeing these. Great set Chu...

Re: Low Tide in a Sea-Loch - Isle of Harris

My images of Scotland will be, like many of my others, kitchen sink compositions. The thing was, in Scotland, especially in the Hebrides, there is so much all around you on such a massive scale, and all of it contributes something. All comments and/or edits appreciated. A fun trip I'm sure Minnie !...

Re: Car Fire at Walmart

Oh my !!! That first one really is ablaze. Timing as you know is everything, being in the right place at the right time, for you, but not so much for the car owners parked next the car on fire. Very dramatic scene and well done, Duck.

Re: 'Finger Lickin' Good'

Colonel who??? Duck makes a good point..I think you shot from the hip here,,,,, Ha ha ha !!! You know, I never gave thought to anyone thinking this was shot from the hip. Although, I can see why one would think that. However, to put your thoughts at ease, it was not shot from the hip. I actually ha...

Re: 'Finger Lickin' Good'

Double entendres are always wonderful when they happen visually. This one specially made me laugh as it rides the 'naughty' cusp. You're right, converting to B&W would have taken so much away from this. My only suggestion is to up the exposure on this. Right now the brightness of Col. Sanders m...
