Heron With A Dirty Face

In response to Piet's post, which I mistakenly thought was a bird with sloppy eating habits but was instead a bird in snow.

Sunday Walk

On our late-afternoon walk yesterday at the Sallis house, I turned and spotted my brother holding Jack's hand as they walked through some nice golden hazy light, and tried to capture it. Such things are always difficult. All suggestions, comments welcome. House is progressing.... except for the pipe...

Re: macro lens at bird feeder

the red winged blackbird redWingBlackBirdS.jpg Love it, he looks good with your darkside approach. Love that he is such a messy eater! LOL - he eats fine, was a few days ago, snow! He has better table manners than my crew, they forever have messy little faces. Maybe it's a Southern thing. Even my d...

Re: The Picture that Hooked Me on Digital Post Processing

It is play that frees us and our creativity from the shackles it may have had when we were racing the clock to get bills paid, meals on the table, kids to ball practice. Creativity has a hard run in those days, and most of us shelve it. Too many of us never take it back off the shelf when we can, be...

Re: Whimsy

All of them are fun and well done. The second one is a classic, the two guys duking it out or pretending to for the impact it may have on the locals.Biblical, indeed, as Piet says, and before. Every set of critters has its rituals of establishing dominance. The birds do the same, with their posturin...

Re: Samples of surface effects on a product

Thanks for looking at these. I know compared to what most people here like to photograph this may seem dull and boring :-D but I love stuff like this. I sent out a quote for a possible new client this morning. Hopefully they accept the quote. It's a tech firm right here in my home town (literally t...

down right spooky with their fevered flesh glistening in the light
I was hoping they'd be a little creepy :) . They are made of a kind of hard material that dolls aren't made from anymore, so they are pretty reflective.

Re: "Art" out of Ice?

#1. "Music of the Spheres" (my personal favorite) #2. Someone said something about Sugar Frosted (and I personally would not crop a thing, all subjective of course) #3. An interesting abstract, but maybe a fossil trilobite or horseshoe crab... Very generally I do not need to know or try to imagine ...
