The Bird-Watcher

This is of course a snapshot, caught candid when I spotted my 5 year old grandson Jack up this little tree trying out his binoculars in the birding area behind the Science Museum Sunday. I did some creative processing to liven up a rather shady area in late afternoon with the sun on the wrong side o...

Re: Cold Embrace

Odd man out, here. I prefer your first post, Minnie, even though it seems a bit flat, but I suspect that is what happens when you take pictures during a snow storm. The bush was there, so it should stay, I believe. And the snow was falling, so it should continue to fall. More authentic that way. If...

Re: Cold Embrace

I thought I might have a stab at this one Minnie. I have increased the contrast, mostly by dodging & burning, and removed the plant in the bottom right corner. Untitled-1.jpg EDIT: Looking at it on here perhaps the snow could stand a bit more brightening ? Thank you Graham, I like it! Yes, I wa...

You surely have a broad range of interests, subjects, and skills. I open each of your threads like I'd open a present, with great anticipation to see the next treat! This is quite wonderful, with the terrific detail on the handle and glove, the wonderful background texture that supports the color, l...

Re: Weather over water

This is just beautiful, Frank. Great capture and rendition of the light beams. The subtlety of your processing is very appropriate, with plenty of contrast and tonalities, but not overemphasizing the details in the cloud structures - a perfect balance. This gives it a classic, almost painterly look....

Re: The Chilterns (+ snow)

It's a beautiful scene with a great leading line and the Lone Tree that captures all of us. I read recently that of all landscape scenes, photos of Lone Trees are among the 5 best selling scenes and if I remember correctly, the only ones where the actual location doesn't really matter (doesn't have ...

I do like this one! It seems warmer even though the photo temp is the same, just because of the intimacy with the central figures and the candle.

Re: How I've Spent 2 Years & All My $

WOW! What a beautiful home, project, and backstory. I love older homes like this and am amazed when/how people restore them. Beautiful. Thank you. It holds a lot of memories, and we just couldn't bear to watch it fall down. Our grandparents would have haunted us if we 'd allowed that to happen. So ...

It needs much more of course, but it is truly starting to feel real to me now.
