Re: Dave's Project 52

#44 is a photo from New Orleans, but was post processed this week. It's an old trumpet in its case. I wasn't sure where I was gonna go with it, but did want a vintage soft rough look so to speak. Dave Nice creation Dave! I love how you integrated the music notes and tied it all together with light ...

While visiting with family in Edmonds, WA yesterday.
Quite nice. Using shadows as compositional components is something you excel at and we can learn from! You really have to SEE to find this stuff!

Re: Minnie's 52

Minnie, the graffiti in Cuba image is a capture well seen and taken, but I will have to give you ever so much credit for the long exposure image. I'm not much of a fan with milky water falls, streams, etc. as I use to be, but this one seems to be just right, IMO. The composition is very effective w...

Re: Head of the Charles River Regatta

Nice shot (and a nicer story, even!). The image is well composed with that strong diagonal and all the movement that the boat and oars carry with them. I relate to the bittersweet joy of watching our adult children compete. I still love watching the 36 yr old play soccer in the local mens’ league. I...

Re: Crosses, Cannons and cellphones

When back to your tools I would experiment with bringing out more detail on the wall with the cross and I'm not sure the upper portion of the image is adding anything so might consider cropping down to just below the brown thing...a nice street shot worthy of more than a glance minniev...... I am p...

Great shot, Minnie. Texture, framing, tonality and the wonderful whimsy of peaceful use of cannons. Matt
Thanks Matt. The cannons stuck nose-down in concrete as vehicle barriers was a surprise, but only because it was early in the visit. Lots of anomalies in Cuba.

Crosses, Cannons and cellphones

This cross is one that has survived hundreds of years in Havana, the last one of its original Stations Of The Cross crosses. The cannon are also hundreds of years old. Evidently Cuba had vast numbers of cannon and decided a way to use them was stick them in the cement to create barriers to keep vehi...

Re: 'Duchess the Fortune Teller'

I love the image. It’s clearly a beautiful capture. Yes you had to get rid of the little halo remnant by her ch ek, I was a distraction. She looks great in the second version. I do like seeing more of the cemetery as in the First one though. Compromise?

Re: Minnie's 52

Long Exposre, this week. Well it was a challenge without a tripod but I stood very still on a plank that crossed a creek in the Mariposa mountain park in Cienfuegos province. Could not lean on the twigs that passed for handrails or I’d have been in the creek.

Re: Minnie's 52

Maybe I'm cheating a little on this one, since I took it a couple of months ago because I saw Graffiti on The Wheel and knew it would come up some day. I will try to add one later, but will be Off The Grid for about a week or 10 days. We are taking a trip to Cuba. It's a cruise so there won't be a ...
