"Art" out of Ice?

Any thoughts are appreciated. These are tinkered with in toning, in filters, with texture, just to bring out what I saw in the ice. All of them are closeups but not really macro. And not done yet, still going through the stuff I got last week during the latest version of winter-geddon in Mississippi.

Re: macro lens at bird feeder

thank you Steve and Dave - It will be a long time before I am a birder, but birds at the birdfeeder are WAY easier than Street! He's a beauty, and I like the one with the tad of color too. I have not tried to take pictures of the birdfest on my patio, you may have led me in that direction. They are...

Re: 'Destination Unknown'

Wonderful street portrait, Dave, so intense and full of personality and impact. I think you were correct in not pursuing grunge treatment on this one, but instead letting his youth and vitality carry the image. Yes, the stories of these folk do matter. That is what always confuses me about critics w...

Re: the heron's flight

But if he's coming towards you, you will not get the yellow eye. Just sayin'. This is their best angle, given how they're made.

Very nice, with all his beautiful muted colors. And this one too, could go another direction is you play with textures, though it is lovely as-is.

In Memoriam - A Tribute to Mr. Percy

One of our local zookeepers also adopted unwanted/abandoned exotic animals that needed homes. He took them to community events and schools so children of all ages could get to know them, and there was never a charge for visiting his traveling menagerie. There's hardly a child in the tri-county area ...

Old Mill Two Ways

This old mill was a building I've passed a thousand times and hardly noticed until Steve was here, and he saw its potential. It was also fraught with challenges due to the ugly security fencing and proximity to the highway. I hope he'll look at his when he gets home, and see if he has any to add. I ...

Re: Diversion

In Edinburgh this past fall. All opinions and suggestions welcome Well, here is another one I missed along the way !!! This an excellent street image where there is so much to consider that actually makes it an excellent street shot. First, the color, (and as you know I'm a black & white person) bl...

Re: Santa Claus In the Off-Season

A casual snap to see what I might do with it. All advice appreciated. A casual snap with a possible dramatic appeal !!! This has my attention Minnie. Dave I thought about grunging him up Chinn-style. He is my only Santa in civilian clothes! He sold me a very nice quilt that Mrs. Claus had inherited...
