Re: Cormorant Madness

Intriquing image of a great natural event. When I used to fish out of San Diego the harbor and boat docks would always have huge numbers of Cormorants hanging out on them. I never saw them flock like this though. I think I get where you were going with the post on this one but think it is off just ...

Re: Walk With Me

I can hear the swamp all dresses in white holding its breath waiting to see what's next, from warm to dry to what's this, and the animals too. I love this, and that you were the first to explore it too. The trail is so inviting, the air so cold, the scene so welcoming, and the snow falling! S- Than...

Re: On Ice

Good for you minniev...I'll agree with Linda about this image being in between....I'm sure Piet will be of assistance among others.. It is a betweener, down low over the ice but not true 1:1. The lens has a 1:1 setting and two others that I haven't yet figured out the difference between, but the tr...

Re: On Ice

I hope you have a lot of fun with the lens, Minnie! It will surely be a different experience (think of Piet's close-ups!) than kitchen sink landscapes. This particular shot you've posted seems more of an in-between distance to me, and not really abstract with so many identifiable elements. I hope y...

Re: Monkey Shoulder

Though you'd have to pay me a bunch of money to take a swallow of the stuff (not a fan of Scotch), I do like the image. It's well composed, conveys a peaceful but wintery mood with delicate details and colors. I like how you've overlapped the glass and the bottle. And I do like the name of the brand...

Re: Walk With Me Again - Companion Image

Interesting minniev, the upper limbs look a bit squirrelly to me...maybe they will grow on me. I knew my sharp eyed friend would catch my maneuvering! I did the squirrelly thing on purpose, and can't really explain what I did, but it was an enhancement of the squirreliness that was already there. A...

Re: Walk With Me Again - Companion Image

I've got dozens of images of this little walking bridge in all seasons, all times of day and all weather, but I keep on doing it because it's fun. This is yesterday's sunrise from the same location as last week's snow shot was taken. It's a bit of frivolous processing with digital paint playthings....

Re: Walk With Me Again - Companion Image

That is gorgeous scene, even in its cold starkness. That said, I feel there is too much coolness and the sun invites some form of warmth into the image. Consider isolating the walkway with a wash of warm light. It should help counter all that coolness while strengthening the leading line aspect of ...

On Ice

I got my own Christmas present to myself yesterday, with points I'd been saving a long while - my first real macro lens, the Oly 60, a little lens that weighs only a few oz and is easily pocketable but has good reviews. My first experiment was less than stellar, bringing home only a couple of images...
