Re: Walking By

While visiting my favorite southern town Savannah. I enjoy Street when it comes along and love your portraits, but these are the images I love the most. Utterly random but utterly depicting the human experience. I'm sure you could stage this and make it look natural but it's the naturalness of it a...

Re: High key Morning Launch

Done the other morning with the previously posted rookery shots. Practicing trying to minimize movement except wings. This wasn't too bad I though. Have a few more, and if one is better I will post it. Minimal post. Some noise. maximized dynamic range, slight sharpening. Canon 7Dmkii 1/80 F6.3 ISO6...

Re: New York City & Flags

I probably should explain why I said it makes it look rotated. It is an established fact amongst those who study such things, that if the edges of a frame, window, painting, photo are broader on one side the human eye/mind considers that to be the prime orientation, the direction of which is broads...

Re: Law Enforcement Day

Thanks for the comment. Here is my favorite image from the event. A back view. ;-) I like the first one better. This one makes me feel too much like I"m in the family section on Law Enforcement Remembrance Day. Since I've been there and done that, it feels uncomfortably familiar. So if you wan...

Re: Law Enforcement Day

Here on the Olympic Peninsula. Small ceremony today at our Liberty Park. I can hear the guns go off, the bark of commands, and the power and presence of the moment. It's never a good thing but a powerful reminder of our hero's lives. I'm curious, as a photographer do you ever feel awkward at ceremo...

Re: This mornings visitor

I don't shoot portraits so please forgive my ignorance but I was 'taught' that you never cut off someone's head, hands, etc. Am I wrong? I like it, especially the cropped chopped head with his hands at his mouth, but am trying to understand when and where it's okay, or are there no rules and you go ...

Re: Makah Maiden

I love your native portraits and this is no exception. She is a more clear "blend" of the ancient and the modern, with her makeup and jewelry and her impressive regalia which seems a mix itself of family treasure and more current native art tradition. She has a serious statement to make in...

Re: Portrait w/Setup

What a lovely and kind response. What you have done is worth more than a portrait. It is an introduction into your thinking and methodology. ... I haven't been lucky enough to shoot portraits, but feel like I just attended a Master Class and am better for it. I love your reply and all the help here...
