Re: Mount St. Helens from Windy Ridge, Before and After from Jpeg.

Thanks, Steve. If you get a chance, GO! Johnston Ridge is easier to get to and has a better view right into the muzzle of the thing. There's also a swell museum there. Windy Ridge is really pretty undeveloped and harder to get to, but it has the view of Spirit Lake. It also took the brunt of the bl...

Re: Girl & Her Violin

Thanks everyone for the comments. Steve when working with someone, you light them, you pose them, you have conversations, you adjust the lights alittle and then I watch to see what they might do on their own. When I see something that interests me I try hard to make sure I get that image. The lst i...

Re: Mount St. Helens from Windy Ridge, Before and After from Jpeg.

... This is another I have a before-and-after of but it's worth it to skip the before. The rangers told us that soon after the blast some well-meaning but ill-advised fisherman (no one knows who or they'd prosecute) restocked the lake with Rainbow, I think it was, which are non-native in the first ...

Re: Mount St. Helens from Windy Ridge, Before and After from Jpeg.

... Windy Ridge is slightly northeast of the crater and was dead in the blast zone. Most people visit the other vantage, Johnston Ridge, to the NW, where young vulcanologist Dr. David A. Johnston was killed in 1980 when the mountain blew up in his face (Johnston radioed his famous last words: "...

Re: Why I Live At PM (photoMentoris) - add your story

It has been a real pleasure reading other folks’ stories. Everyone has a story. Every human is unique. Not “special” necessarily, but unique if only in one single way. ... So true and it was a pleasure reading your story as well. It's really fun reading these and I feel closer because of them. Than...

Re: 'DJ Chinn Chilla'

Thanks Steve !!! This was a challenge for sure. I agree, and have thought about taking him a copy of this image. He's a regular at a local pub, but I have not been there, so what an opportunity .... two birds with one stone? I appreciate your suggestion with the highlights. In the heat of the momen...

Re: Spotted Salamander

I found this salamander under a rock in my badly neglected and overgrown front yard garden which I have been endeavoring to restore to a respectable state. Of course I had to photo it so I carefully replaced the rock and ran to get my camera. After taking a couple of photos, I removed it to some ro...
