Re: A question about file organization and cataloging

Adobe Bridge is only ten years old. Prior to Bridge, there was a similar software inside of Photoshop called "Browser". Photo Mechanic is my favorite software, but I use it less and less now. Somewhat recently, I adopted an eclectic collection of cameras for my use, and I've found perhaps ...

Re: A question about file organization and cataloging

ThumbsPlus is about to be 22 years old! Whoa. I remember when it showed up as "ThumbsUp!" before they had to change their name because of trademark issues.

Re: A question about file organization and cataloging

Oh my....! Thumbs Plus lives! I thought for sure it was long gone. If I recall correctly, Either Title / Object Name or Headline usually automatically comes up as a title in social media. I think Facebook might do both. I think the most recent standard has Title and Object Name as the same field now...

Re: A question about file organization and cataloging

I've got some thoughts saved that I'll attach to this post. In a nutshell, I would recommend using the IPTC quasi-standard used to keyword image files by many programs and organizations. Photo Mechanic, Lightroom, Phase One's Capture One, etc. should be able to read and edit this information. I'd gu...

Nicole

Here's a quick snap of Nicole at an August photoMENTORIS Las Vegas Meetup lighting workshop.

Can't take credit for much of this. Bobby and Nicole did the heavy lifting that evening.

Re: Vignettes - guidelines? personal thing?

I never had the patience for working with large field cameras. I liked to go places on foot, actually still do, and a 4x5 field camera was ideal since it was smaller than my DSLR kit (or an autofocus 135 format SLR kit using the same lenses), even with ten+ film holders. Being of diminutive stature,...

Re: Vignettes - guidelines? personal thing?

Personally, I pretty much never add software vignettes, black or white. Just not my thing. Of course, some of my lenses are so old (no offense to the elder statesmen here, but I think only our very own Ed would have even been born when a few of my old screwmount Nikkors was made) that they have some...
