Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion: Cartier-Bresson and The Decisive Moment - Share Your Thoughts

Thanks for the looking out Steve. I had already found those links you listed, which is my original problem... they all refer to, or quote from, the original text. I would like a copy of the actual original text from the book itself and that is what I am having a hard time finding. My local library i...

Re: Why I Live At PM (photoMentoris) - add your story

It's interesting to see the arcs of people's lives and how they converge at just the right opportunistic time. My journey here began early on in my switch from film to digital back on 2004/2005. For several years I floated from forum to forum, not settling on any one right away. There were so many t...

Re: Vacationing With Cindy

Storms are definitely a mood killer when on vacation at the beach but should be a photographer's dream. Thunder clouds over the horizon, crashing waves and moody skies all lend themselves to creating dramatic landscapes. But, if traveling with family and little ones I can see how that can be depress...

Re: Monthly Masters' Discussion: Cartier-Bresson and The Decisive Moment - Share Your Thoughts

I know that in today's digital age much of Cartier-Bresson's decisive moment may feel a bit dated or somewhat inadequate or stale for anything but street or photojournalism, but I have always subscribed to his way of thinking about image making when it comes to shooting events. At least I try to, as...

Re: "The Territorial Imperative"

"Nature's beauty cannot be expressed more perfectly than in its flora."(from the description of this section) IMO this statement is too restrictive, and, because lichen ("lichens" is also an accepted plural designation) are often mistaken for plants, I shall, absent objection, p...

Re: Avalanche Lily

I have to agree with Ernst. That second image is great. I looks like a watercolor painting. Here is my take, and it's rather subjective; In viewing that second image I would prefer to see the fronts of the flowers. Instead I am presented with their backs. At this low angle it is as if I am in a crow...

Re: Radio Heaset

So I would ask as someone still learning what ever I can.....does it matter why it looks like it looks..would a client want it fixed.. I am sincere and not trying to be a smart a...... First, I don't get the 'smart ass' vibe from you so no worries. :) Second, I truly believe the only dumb question ...

Re: Wall Abstract

I hated college. For me it was more of a waste of time and money than actual learning. Not to say I didn't learn anything. There were a small handful of instructors that I really appreciated their lessons and I came away learning more than I thought I would. One such class was Art Appreciation (I wa...

Re: Radio Heaset

Thanks for looking, Erich. I appreciate the comments. Pretty darn good looking head set(heaset?) Duck...the reflection of the left seems to me, turned a bit too far clockwise.... I think that may be an optical illusion as the reflection is in camera, not faked in post. Thanks for commenting though. ;)
